Nathan Redmond hails Southampton spirit after victory at Crystal Palace

Nathan Redmond hailed Southampton's spirit for victory at Crystal Palace.

Saints produced a dominant, controlled performance to see off Crystal Palace, 2-0 at Selhurst Park.

After the game, in which Redmond opened the scoring with an explosive 20-yard shot after some nifty footwork, he was asked whether it was the team's best performance of the season.

“In moments, yes," he said. “In some moments, if we were to be over-critical, no, but that's the beauty of our game – we're always itching to improve and always wanting to go further and get better.

“Tuesday night under the lights was a perfect opportunity to bounce back from Saturday's performance.

“It's a testament to us – our mentality and our strength. We've been in worse places, as we've proved this season, and since my time here we've been in worse places, but I feel like we're really focused at the moment and really strong.

“Everybody wants to play – the competition is healthy and I think that's a really good thing to have at the moment."
