Napoli midfielder Hirving Lozano responds to Newcastle rumours

Napoli midfielder Hirving Lozano has reacted to talk of interest from Newcastle United.

The Mexico international is being linked with Newcastle ahead of the January market. Following the sale of the club by former owner Mike Ashley, Newcastle are being linked with a raft of major names as the new board prepare to flex their financial muscles. Asked about the situation, Lozano says he's staying grounded.

"I am first and foremost focused on (Napoli). Rumours come, they always come, they are always visible and not heard," the 26-year-old told Fox Sports via Fotboll Transfers.

"But the truth is that no, I'm very calm. If the time comes, it will come, but right now I'm here with Napoli. I'm focused here and I will do my best."

Former PSV Eindhoven midfielder Lozano has a contract with Napoli until the summer of 2024. The 26 year-old right-sided midfielder is a regular for Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti this season, playing 12 times, scoring twice and producing two assists.

Lozano is in his third season with Napoli, joining from PSV for a fee of €35m. He originally came through the youth system at Pachuca, where he was spotted by PSV scouts.
