Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret is on Manchester United's radar.
ESPN says United are closely monitoring Meret as they search for a replacement for current No1 David de Gea.
De Gea was awarded for his eight years of service at Old Trafford with a lucrative new contract last September.
But the Spaniard's form has since plummeted and his numerous high-profile errors have prompted United chiefs to consider a change of shot-stopper.
Dean Henderson shone during a loan spell at Sheffield United this season and has been tipped to replace De Gea as United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first-choice goalkeeper.
But the 23-year-old Englishman is set on having a starting role and will push for a move if he does not receive assurances from Solskjaer.
United have identified Meret as a promising option who could inherit No1 status in the near future.
De Gea is set to start the 2020/21 season between the sticks for the Red Devils, while Meret, 23, would emerge to compete for a starting role.
