Napoli have not made a request to change the venue of their UEFA Champions League tie against Liverpool.
A claim was made by the club's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, that his side would ask UEFA to play home games in Bari instead.
But UEFA told Sky Sports News that no such request has been made.
The Reds are due to square off against Napoli in Naples on October 3.
De Laurentiis told Corriere dello Sport: "The stadium of Napoli is a nightmare. Such a bad stadium limits the status of Napoli at an international level.
"I've asked UEFA to play Champions League games at Bari's San Nicola, I am open to paying the transportation for Napoli fans."
