Napoli coach Ancelotti insists: I've not considered resigning

Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti insists they go into their Champions League tie at Liverpool in good spirits.

Napoli are six games without a win with the players in a stand-off with owner Aurelio de Laurentiis.

But Ancelotti said: “We're not in last-chance saloon because in the Champions League we've earned more of a chance to qualify.

“I hope this can give us the right stimuli, to do well in a clash that you always dream of playing.

“Our state of mind stems from the fact we're not doing well. We have to do much more and prepare for an important game with the utmost attention and focus, to go through and reach our first objective of the season.

“The club know it has to do better, the same with the team, the coach too. We're all in this together and we want to get a result tomorrow.

“I can assure you that there's perfect harmony here. It's for this reason that I've never thought about resigning.

“During my 30-year career, I've never not had the confidence of my club and my players. It's the same now.

“In the league our form has fluctuated and we mustn't hide away from that. We have to do much better.

“We've had good games, many others less so and the draws have affected us. We have regrets, but we're also ready to improve.

“There have always been delicate moments, this is one of them and we'll come out of it by sticking together.

“Despite all the talk, there's unity of purpose between the team, club and coach, and we'll come out of this [bad patch] sooner or later."
