Napoli chief Giuntoli pushing Liverpool to discuss Tsimikas terms

Napoli are determined to prise Kostas Tsimikas away from Liverpool this summer.

Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has prioritised a deal for the Greece international and made a first attempt last week.

Corriere dello Sport via TMW says Giuntoli sought a straight loan deal, but the approach was rejected by Liverpool.

This hasn't put off Giuntoli, who plans to return with a revised proposal. It's been suggested Napoli would be prepared to include a permanent option in their proposal. The new approach is expected this week.

Napoli know Tsimikas is keen on the move and are counting on the player's willingness to force Liverpool back to the table.

The Greece international joined Liverpool a year ago from Olympiacos for €13m, but struggled to make a first team impression. With the Reds last season, the 25 year-old Tsimikas managed just the seven appearances. He has a contract at Anfield to 2025.
