Napoli captain Insigne apologises to fans for Roma defeat

Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne has apologised to fans for their defeat to Roma.

Roma won 2-1 on the day.

“We apologise to the fans, as we know that we can do better, but sometimes there are incidents like the ones on Wednesday that influence us," Insigne told Radio Kiss Kiss.

Napoli were held to a controversial 2-2 draw by Atalanta midweek, with strong penalty appeals rejected in the build-up to the equaliser.

“We gave our all today, but everything went against us. Looking at the two matches, we didn't put in the same performance as on Wednesday.

“It's important that we stay calm, because if we let our heads drop, we won't get out of this tunnel. We need to work with help from the coach.

“Our luck just isn't in, as again we hit the woodwork twice."
