Nantes president Waldemar Kita is attempting to rescue a deal with Cardiff City for the sale of Emiliano Sala.
Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has made no secret of his interest in the Nantes striker - but declared the deal off over the weekend due to Kita's asking price.
However, L'Equipe says Kita has gone back to Wales and reduced his valuation to €22m - a fee Cardiff are willing to pay.
Now the Nantes owner needs to convince Sala to accept the move, who is unsure about the switch.
Kita is also having to stare down coach Vahid Halilhodzic, who has publicly protested against Sala's proposed sale.
