Yoshinori Muto admits two Japan teammates convinced him about a move to Newcastle United.

The Japanese international spoke to his fellow countrymen, Southampton's Maya Yoshida and Leicester City's Shinji Okazaki, with both speaking highly about United fans' passion.

Speaking to NUFC TV, the 26-year-old said: “I am very happy to be a member of Newcastle United. I am really looking forward to playing in-front of the fans.

“I heard from Maya Yoshida and Shinji Okazaki that Newcastle supporters are really enthusiastic, that the atmosphere in the stadium is immense.

“I felt that I would really like to play in-front of these wonderful fans."
