Murcia president Pagniello confirms trying to sign ex-Barcelona striker Eto'o

Racing Murcia president Morris Pagniello has confirmed trying to sign former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.

Murcia face LaLiga Santander side Levante in the Copa del Rey and the third tier club have proposed the idea of the game being played in the United Arab Emirates.

Despite being a tall order, this has not discouraged president of Racing Murcia, Morris Pagniello, who has gone one further and even tried to sign Eto'o for the clash against Levante. When talking about the potential transfer of the former Barcelona legend, the president said the move was in the balance.

"At this time in the morning, I would say that the chances of signing Samuel Eto'o are around 50-50," Pagniello told Radio MARCA. "Next week we will know if we can sign Eto'o, if not we have a plan B prepared. "He would have to play if we signed him, it is the coach's job to fit him in the team.

"We are clear that the game against Levante is very important and it is time for exceptions. When talking about the radical idea of playing the game in the United Arab Emirates, Pagniello explained why he was confident. "We have several investors in Mexico and the UAE who can financially back this operation."
