Youssouf Mulumbu admits he defied West Bromwich Albion management to stay with DR Congo's Africa Cup of Nations squad.
Mulumbu has admitted that Baggies chiefs asked him to leave the Congo squad and return to the Midlands to have a hamstring injury assessed.
"I've spoken to the bosses at West Bromwich Albion and they want me to go back, to heal and to play.
"But, at the moment, I am so focused and concentrated with the national team that it wasn't possible."
