Manchester United boss David Moyes wants the club to abandon their over-30 contract policy for Robin van Persie.
The Daily Star Sunday says normally, a player over the age of 30 would be offered only a 12-month extension, which would then be reviewed on an annual basis.
Van Persie, 30, has two years remaining on his United contract.
And Moyes will hold talks on the Dutch striker's future with Old Trafford chief executive Ed Woodward.
