Moyes: Technical director at Man Utd may flop

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes has warned fans hiring a technical director may not improve transfer strategy.

United are thought to be in the process of restructuring the club in order to accommodate a director of football, but Moyes is unsure of the role's worth.

“I don't know how many clubs have had a director of football where it has worked," the 55-year-old told Sky Sports.

“Everybody might say it helps, but I can't really think of loads and loads of them.

“I think what it does is that it helps the manager in maybe having someone who he would like to have in place to help on those jobs.

Manchester United have changed loads of things.

“[They've changed] a lot of their traditions; what they do so it wouldn't surprise me if they brought in a director of football because lots of clubs are doing it.

Manchester City have got one and it's worked very well for them, so who knows."
