Everton boss David Moyes has revealed he tried to 'sign' Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney last week for Jamie Carragher's Liverpool testimonial.
Moyes contacted England to see if the ex-Toffee striker fancied a brief cameo against Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday.
Moyes revealed: "It was interesting Wayne was keen to play for Everton.
"If it had been possible he would have played but he wasn't able to as he was on international duty."
