Moyes pleased with Everton kids in Europa League defeat

Everton boss David Moyes was happy to give his youngsters a chance in their Europa League defeat to BATE Borisov last night.

There were no less than six debutants on display for Everton and they held their opponents for 75 minutes at Goodison Park.

"Those young boys will hopefully benefit from it and realise the level they need to get up to play," Moyes told evertonfc.com.

"The back four had a busy night and I thought they coped with it for most of the game.

"It was a pretty poor goal we lost, but overall the boys did fine. I thought the crowd were good for them and they understood the (injury) predicament at the club.

"I thought Tony (Hibbert) was really, really good at helping the young boys through it."

Moyes is now looking forward to Friday's draw in the knowledge that a testing tie awaits.

"It definitely is going to be difficult," he continued. "We are going to play a seeded team and maybe a Champions League dropout team.

"Whoever we get, we look forward to. It's a tough competition to get to the final but we are trying to give it a go if we can."
