Sunderland will go after Steven Naismith in January, according to reports.
Black Cats boss David Moyes was eager to reunite with the Norwich City forward at the Stadium of Light in the summer, having enjoyed a successful working relationship together at Everton.
Sunderland were unable to finalise a deal for the Scotland international prior to the transfer deadline but Moyes is still keen to lure him to Wearside.
It is understood that Sunderland are planning a fresh proposal for the 29-year-old who has recently fallen out of favour with Canaries boss Alex Neil at Carrow Road.
Naismith started the first five games of the Championship campaign for Neil but has not been included for their last two match day squads after being hooked in the 3-0 loss to Birmingham City.
