Moyes admits Everton talks before taking West Ham job

David Moyes admits holding talks with Everton before taking the West Ham job.

Carlo Ancelotti has the job Moyes rejected in December in order to succeed Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium.

“I wouldn't deny that I spoke to Everton," he confessed. “But I also wouldn't deny that I knew that West Ham had suggested that there might be an opening.

“When it came up I was thrilled to take the West Ham job - I really was. The owners had been big enough to say 'come back' and I admired them very much a lot because sometimes it's a hard thing to do.

“I always hoped I'd get an opportunity to come back to you and finish the job. I feel as if I had really just got started.

“I had only just got here six months in and felt that we had just started to get a bit of momentum.

“Now I want to get West Ham talked about in terms of European football regularly, hopefully being in it!

“If we could get talked about in terms of a good chance of being in Champions League, the Europa League, that would be an improvement."
