To celebrate Rooney's remarkable career at Old Trafford, United will be squaring off against his former club Everton on Wednesday night and the match should be a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

Testimonials are usually taken lightheartedly but according to reports from the Daily Star, it has been claimed that manager Mourinho has urged his players to treat the encounter like a Premier League clash.

United players missed out on valuable minutes when their pre-season friendly against Manchester City in China was called off because of inclement weather and Mourinho wants to make sure his squad is topped up ahead of the opening 2016/17 season clash with Bournemouth on August 14.
