Mourinho sets time scale for transforming Man Utd

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reckons he needs three years to turn the club around to where he wants them to be.

Mourinho replies: "I think the three years contract I was given, it is a fair period of time to be where we want to be.

"Three years is not just about the transfer windows we have, it is about my relationship with the players and my understanding of the players, of my personality in the club, and stability.

"It is a fair period of time, but if you ask me if I am waiting for my third year to have good results - no. I am going immediately to try this season to get results.

"Let's go step by step. I am in the beginning of my contract. If you ask me would I like to stay here for more time than three years, yes I would. I would love it, but I have to deserve that."

"The results are not good enough, especially if you compare the results with the way the team is playing," added Mourinho.

"If, as an example, you have a draw against Arsenal, it is quite a normal result, it is not a dramatic result.

"The drama is you play so well and dominate totally - then the result becomes really bad.

"You can say that for the last three matches at home we have lost six points when we played more than enough to have results to match the performance."
