Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is determined to join the battle for Napoli midfielder Jorginho.
The Daily Star says Mourinho is desperate to bring in midfield re-enforcements this summer and will try to tempt Napoli with an initial £50m bid.
United need a midfield enforcer, with Michael Carrick set to retire and Marouane Fellaini deciding to leave after failing to agree a new contract.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp thought he was in pole position to land Jorginho after targeting him as a replacement for Emre Can.
But Mourinho is now keen on the 26-year-old and is poised to go head-to-head with his Anfield rival for the Italian international.
