Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has identified the three centre-backs he wants Ed Woodward to pursue in January.
The Portuguese was furious after Woodward failed to sign a centre-back before the season begun, with United reportedly missing out on Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Jerome Boateng.
United's slow start to the season - they currently lie in eighth - has prompted Woodward to allocate £100m for the January transfer window.
According to ESPN, Mourinho wants to see Woodward use that money on one of Inter's Milan Skriniar, Milan's Alessio Romagnoli or Nikola Milenkovic of Fiorentina.
Mourinho is also reportedly looking for a back-up striker to alleviate the demands on Romelu Lukaku.
