Mourinho explains delayed kick-off to Man Utd v Valencia clash

The Champions League clash between Manchester United and Valencia had a delayed kick-off by five minutes because the Utd coach was late arriving at the ground from their hotel, despite setting out at their usual time but on this occasion being refused a police escort.

United boss Jose Mourinho explained: "We set off at 6.00pm from the Lowery Hotel as we normally have and takes 30 minutes to get to the ground. The police refused an escort for the coach and the journey took 75 minutes.

"Uefa and the referee were understanding about us needing at least half and hour to prepare and that is why the game was delayed."
