Mourinho delighted with Spurs 'spirit' for Everton win

Jose Mourinho was delighted to see some fight from his Tottenham Hotspur players in the 1-0 win over Everton.

Mourinho questioned Spurs' mental toughness after last week's 3-1 loss to Sheffield United.

Hugo Lloris and Heung-min Son were involved in an altercation at half-time against the Toffees on Monday, which Mourinho called 'beautiful'.

Asked if he was happy with the response shown after the loss to the Blades, Mourinho said: "Which fight? During the game or at half-time? I think they are the same thing, the same spirit.

"We spoke a lot after the game against Sheffield and one of the things we spoke was to have critical sense, to be open with each other, to be demanding with each other, to don't accept just the attitude, don't be passive in relation to the others. I think it was a consequence of it.

"The performance was very solid. I don't know if you had the same feeling I had on the bench, but my feeling was the game was under control. I never felt that the game was not under control. Even in the moments when they had the ball we felt very comfortable defensively.

"Could we play better? Could we score more? Yes, of course. I always feel matches after bad defeats because sometimes you stay on the battlefield and sometimes you carry to the match the weight of the bad performances, weight of critics."
