Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is in contact with Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos about a summer move.

Mourinho has confirmed he's in the market for a new midfield general this summer - and Kroos has emerged as a priority target.

Indeed, it's claimed Mourinho's interest in Napoli midfielder Jorginho is a ruse, with Kroos his priority.

Don Balon says Real president Florentino Perez is reluctant to lose the Germany international, but Kroos feels his time in Madrid is coming to an end. He believes Real are facing a rebuilding era and is convinced he needs to leave for a fresh challenge.

Mourinho is eager to ferry him to United, but will face competition from Manchester City and Kroos' former club Bayern Munich.
