Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho believes that he is a big reason why Scott McTominy is excelling at Manchester United.

Mourinho was in charge at United when he gave McTominay is first real chance with the first team.

The Scot has gone on to become a fans' favorite and one of United's key central midfielders.

Speaking about McTominay during a press conference, Mourinho told reporters: "Yes it's very important [to bring through youth], Scott McTominay is only the best player at Manchester United.

"Raphael Varane is one of the best players in the world, yes, it's fair criticism [of journalists who question his record of developing youngsters]."
