Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho insists Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and Liverpool's Steven Gerrard can play together.

Mourinho said: "If there was ever a chance of Lampard or Gerrard being available then I am sure all the big teams in Europe would make a big push.

"They are two great players. I have had Frank in my team and been up against Gerrard and you cannot deny their quality.

"I believe they can play together in the same team. They are compatible on the pitch.

They have done it for England without any problems and I always thought they could."
