Motherwell boss Craig Brown admits he would need to sell before making any move for Lukas Jutkiewicz and John Ruddy. The duo are currently on loan at Motherwell from Everton, with the SPL outfit able to offer them regular first-team football.
Both men have played a key role in helping Motherwell launch a European qualification push this season, with a top-four finish very much on the cards.
He accepts that money is tight, but hopes chairman John Boyle can be persuaded to finance a deal in the knowledge that the players could be sold on for a higher fee in the future.
"The chairman has been noted for suggesting that in the past but we haven't suggested it at the moment," said Brown.
"Things are tight all over and all I know is the budget, like other clubs, is very restricted.
"We would have to sell before we could buy and we would be buying at a much lesser price than the money we got."
