Motherwell boss: Let's start season earlier

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee feels an earlier start to the SPL season should be considered to avoid winter postponements. Well's home meeting with Hearts fell victim to the weather at the weekend.

He told the Evening Times: "I would have no fears about summer football. Somebody has to do a proper audit, whether it's Uefa or the SPL and SFA.

"We should be looking at it and really seeing what the options are and what the financial implications are with media and television.

"What the supporters want, of course, is fundamental. It is the most important thing."

But McGhee's first priority is to discover why Saturday's clash could not go ahead.

"I want answers," McGhee admitted. "If there was some sort of failing, I want to know it's been fixed immediately."
