Motherwell boss Craig Brown realises he must sell players in January if he is to make any additions to his squad. Brown is determined to add experience to his ranks after he has been forced to field up to eight U21s of late in his matchday squads.
"It's too early with regard to the boys who are out of contract in January," Brown told the Daily Record.
"There is nothing to report there and we will look at the situation more closely at the start of December.
"Alan is doing fine, he scored an important goal to get us into the cup semi-final.
"He has settled in quite well and we will have a decision to make on him. I've already stated I would like to keep Nick but we will wait and see what happens with Blackburn.
"But with regards to adding to our existing squad it doesn't look like we will be able to bring in new players, not even a kid, as we can't afford to.
"We would have to transfer a player for that to happen.
"Mark can sign a pre-contract or someone could buy him but we've not heard anything yet.
"We will see what happens but I'm happy with the squad I've got and not moaning about the situation."
