British media personality and Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has laid into the club for making some of its workers redundant.

The Gunners are letting go of several staff members, including many in their scouting department.

It is a disappointing outcome according to Morgan and many other supporters, especially as the players took 12.5 percent pay cuts after the COVID-19 shutdown to avoid such a situation.

Morgan tweeted: "Arsenal firing 55 staff when we're owned by a multi-billionaire, have just made £££ by winning the FA Cup & qualifying for Europe, & pay Mesut Ozil £350k-a-week to sit on his a**e, is morally indefensible & not what I expect from a club with our heritage.

"Shameful decision."
