Moreno hails Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa after Spain victory

Spain coach Robert Moreno hailed Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga after victory over Romania.

For the fourth successive international match, Kepa Arrizabalaga was selected over David de Gea as the starting goalkeeper and Robert Moreno has explained the selection decision.

His response may have been a diplomatic way of addressing the issue, but that will only become clear as the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign continues.

"Today it was Kepa's turn, we thought he was the right one for this game," Moreno said.

"I'm very happy with him.

"He has stood out because he saved us from a draw."

Jesus Navas' form with Sevilla has earned him an international recall, not least due to a change in position, and Moreno felt he was an important inclusion on Thursday evening.

"It was simply a matter of profile, as Romania have a very individualistic style on the flanks," he said of his choice at right-back.

"He could give us more crosses and overlaps.

"It was because of this advantage that things were so extreme, although Dani Carvajal could do that too."
