Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy praised summer signing Andy Fleming after he scored twice on his debut in the Shrimps first game at the Globe Arena. Fleming's brace was enough to send Championship Coventry crashing out of the Carling Cup.
McIlroy said: "Andy had a wonderful game and I am delighted for him. He certainly had a day he will never forget and made it a wonderful night for the club.
"We were on the back foot for the first 20 minutes or so but after that I thought we were excellent and I don't think anyone can say we didn't deserve it.
"Andy will take the headlines and rightly so but every single player was superb and did the club proud.
"It was always going to be an historic occasion and it couldn't have really gone any better for everyone. The fans turned out in numbers and I hope many of them will come back on Saturday."
