More Rangers set to depart with Goian, Edu and Bocanegra on the way out

Rangers are bracing themselves for a second exodus with news that three senior players are set to leave.

Following the departure of Steven Davis, Steven Naismith, Kyle Lafferty, Steven Whittaker and Jamie Ness, the Glasgow club are now set to lose Romanian defender Dorin Goian, and USA pair Maurice Edu and Carlos Bocanegra, according to owner Charles Green.

'Gers fell into liquidation before reforming as The Rangers FC and have now been demoted to Scotland's Third Division which has forced the trio to reassess their playing futures which appear to be away from Ibrox.

"We haven't got many players and more will be leaving," Green said.

"I was with Dorin Goian and his agent yesterday. They were sat in Bucharest unable to imagine what was going on here and they came back hoping sense might have prevailed.

"He was happy to commit to Rangers even if we weren't in the top flight. We've had a number of offers for the player and we'd love him to stay but it's not realistic to think a player of his stature would play in the Third Division.

"The same applies to Edu and Bocanegra. I was at Murray Park yesterday and Carlos was starting his pre-season. These guys have also said they'd stay if we'd gone down a division but to ask them to stay in Division Three is, I think, a bridge too far. We're going to lose some more players now for different reasons to the ones who walked out."
