Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists he was only talking as a fan when suggesting his old club could land Lionel Messi this summer.
Over the weekend, Moratti declared the chance of Inter signing the Barcelona captain was now "feasible".
However, the oil magnate insists he has no influence on today's Inter and was only speaking as a Nerazzurri supporter.
Moratti told Sport: "This is my desire as a fan, only as a fan, I no longer rule in the club, I will only watch the games as a supporter.
"I have not discussed anything on this subject with the new owners of the club ... I have always liked Messi, it is true that when I was president I had always followed him, but I repeat, my comment is that of a fan, not a director.
“Bringing Messi and Lautaro (Martinez) together is a bomb, they are pure magic. They are both imaginative, fast, smart, they play street football, seeing them together will be incredible.
"I really like Lautaro, he is a different footballer, with goals, with fantasy, one of those that you never tire of watching."
