Moratti: I wanted Cantona at Inter Milan; Ince was underappreciated

Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti admits one of his big regrets was failing to sign Eric Cantona.

Moratti made a move for the French great when was he was at his height with Manchester United.

He recalled on Rai Due: "Cantona. I thought he was the player who immediately could resolve the situation. Then there were others."

Moratti also revealed how he managed to sign Luis Figo from Real Madrid.

"Figo came to see me at the beach and we agreed on some things and I wanted to be sure of the engagement. There was a napkin and I managed to write down the amount that the next day was sent to the 'administrator'."

The oil tycoon also had a good word to say for another former Manchester United player.

Asked about those players he was especially fond of, Moratti added: "If I have to say a little-remembered name, it is (Paul) Ince."
