Morata & Giroud? Chelsea make striker top priority in January

Sorry Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud

According to The Sun, Chelsea are looking to sign a striker in January.

The Blues are joint top of the Premier League with 20 points, alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.

And with their title tilt becoming serious under Maurizio Sarri, the Blues hierarchy are not convinced that either Giroud or Morata can spearhead an attack that can deliver glory.

The Spaniard started off well at Stamford Bridge after arriving from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017, but his form quickly dovetailed and he has been an inconsistent presence ever since. Giroud was signed from Arsenal in January to bring competition to Morata but Chelsea believe he is not capable of providing enough goals.

The list of names being floated around to solve Sarri's dilemma is extensive, with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema and Genoa's Krzysztof Piatek being considered.
