Morata, Fabregas, Alonso & Bellerin miss Spain squad

Three Chelsea stars have paid the price for a poor league campaign by losing their World Cup places.

The likes of Alvaro Morata, Cesc Fabregas and Marcus Alonso will NOT be a part of the Spain squad for the coming World Cup in Russia.

Arsenal fullback Hector Bellerin has also missed out.

All three are off the plane. The likes of Morata and Alonso will be especially disappointed, given their higher standing in the pecking order just twelve months ago.

Nacho Monreal of Arsenal was chosen as the back up left back instead of Alonso. The likes of Iago Aspas, Rodrigo Moreno and Lucas Vazquez got in ahead of Morata for the striker spot.

While Fabregas is still a top Premier League player, his absence is less surprising. Spain have too many talented midfielders. The likes of Busquets, Koke, Iniesta, Isco, Saul and David Silva are battling for a starting position.

Spain's World Cup squad:

Goalkeepers: David de Gea, Pepe Reina, Kepa Arrizabalaga

Defenders: Dani Carvajal, Alvaro Odriozola, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Ramos, Nacho, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jordi Alba, Nacho Monreal

Midfielders: Sergio Busquets, Saul, Koke, Thiago Alcantara, Andres Iniesta, David Silva

Forwards: Isco, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vazquez, Iago Aspas, Rodrigo, Diego Costa
