Former Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho is delighted with his move to Montpellier.

Sakho completed his switch yesterday.

He said: "I am very happy to return to France with a great project such as that of Montpellier.

"We talked a lot with the managers, the project is great and seduced me with many young and good players."

Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin was delighted to welcome Sakho.

"To finally have him with us, he will be able to train this afternoon with the objective of being operational as soon as possible. He will bring us his experience, his desire and panache. I hope he will be one of those leaders who can mentor our young people to move them forward."
