Brentford are facing disappointment in their bid to sign Gremio defender Vanderson.

The young fullback is the subject of intense interest from the Bees, which have been negotiating a fee with Gremio ahead of the January market.

However, Le 10 Sport says AS Monaco are now regarded as favourites to land the 20 year-old.

Indeed, given a choice, Vanderson prefers to join ASM next month and talks have commenced between the two clubs about a fee.

ASM are aiming to pay around €12m to trump Brentford for Vanderson in the coming days.
