Monaco midfielder Cesc on Suarez exit: Barcelona must do things better

AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas has had his say on Barcelona pushing Luis Suarez out and towards Atletico Madrid.

Lionel Messi hit out at the club for the way they dealt with Luis Suarez's exit this summer.

"Obviously, it had to happen one day, right?" Fabregas told the press in France.

"That the older players, the '87 generation, we had our day,

"Barcelona is a club that always has to be at the top.

"It's clear that maybe things can be done in a different way.

"We're talking about players who have given their lives to Barcelona, that have won lots of trophies, that have been club icons and legends.

"That's why I think, sometimes, things could be done in a different way, especially with the treatment and how players are respected

"It makes me a bit sad because they're my friends. I know how much they love the club and how much they've given.

"Football isn't just what we see on the pitch. There are lots of other things and [footballers] are people, too.

"These are difficult times for the club.

"I think things are going to change soon - within a few months.

"We hope things can get better and that the club can be at the top again, which is what we all want."
