AS Monaco are eyeing Manchester City fullback Gael Clichy.
The Daily Star Sunday says Monaco will turn to City star Clichy if they fail to land fellow Frenchman Patrice Evra from Manchester United.
Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri is reluctant to wait too long for that part of the jigsaw to fall into place, fearing any breakdown in negotiations would leave his club empty-handed.
That is why he has a back-up plan already to buy City defender Clichy, 27, should Evra be unavailable.
