Molde coach Moe rejects job doubts for Man Utd boss Solskjaer

Molde coach Erling Moe has jumped to the defence of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer is under huge pressure at United after defeat at Leicester City on Saturday. And the speculation around his future has reached the local media in homeland Norway, which has been acknowledged by Moe.

The Molde coach insists Solskjaer's critics should take a long-term view and consider the improvements he has brought to the club since replacing Jose Mourinho almost three years ago.

Via VG, Moe, who replaced Solskjaer at Molde after the latter's departure for United, says: "If we see the progress Manchester United has had since he got there, then he has done a very good job.

"He has built a strong team that means that even higher expectations are set - and that is his merit. I think he deserves a little more praise for such things. I think he gets too little praise for being honest."

Moe also took aim at local scribes, insisting the criticism he's seeing of Solskjaer in the Norwegian press is being driven by what is being written in England.

He added: "Many times I think what is written in the Norwegian press is just a reference to what is written in a newspaper in England. You can see reporters standing and holding out newspapers and things like that."

Moe was Solskjaer's long time assistant manager at Molde before stepping up when the latter departed for United. He led Molde to the Eliteserien championship in 2019. Last season, MFK finished second.
