Thierry Henry scored his seventh goal of the 2011 MLS season as New York Red Bulls scored a 2-1 win over New England Revolution in Week 13.
The Frenchman advanced into the area at Red Bull Arena, before cutting back onto his left foot and slotting it past Revs keeper Matt Reis in the 50th minute.
Earlier, Henry received a through ball from Luke Rodgers before cutting back a pass for Austin da Luz which was knocked into the back of the Revs goal by Ryan Cochrane to make it 1-0 after New England skipper Shalrie Joseph had his penalty kick saved by Greg Sutton.
In the 54th minute Zak Boggs gave the Revs some hope with a goal but it proved to be merely a consolation as the Red Bulls when back to top in the East.
In Washington, Steven Lenhart scored goals in the 15th, 22nd and 60th minutes to help San Jose Earthquakes to a 4-2 victory over DC United whilst Eric Hassli netted twice as Vancouver Whitecaps held Seattle Sounders to a 2-2 draw at Qwest Field.
Elsewhere, Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake drew 1-1, Houston Dynamo defeated Chivas USA 2-1, Colorado Rapids scored late to beat Portland Timbers 1-0 in Portland, LA Galaxy were held to a 2-2 draw by Toronto FC who scored a late leveler through Alan Gordon, Chicago Fire got their second win of the season with a 1-0 result at Columbus Crew and Sporting Kansas City hammered FC Dallas 4-1 despite playing most of the second half with ten man after Milos Stojcev was sent off.
