Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced that it will be broadcast in a record 190 countries and territories during the 2020 season, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
North America's top soccer league confirmed its broadest international distribution yet ahead of the start of the new campaign later this month, with all deals in place running through the 2022 season.
Outside of the US and Canada, notable broadcasters include: ESPN in sub-Saharan Africa and South America; DAZN in Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland; Sky Sports in the UK; and BeIN Sports in Southeast Asia and Oceania, including Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Timor Leste, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
US broadcasters ESPN, Fox Sports and Univision currently hold domestic MLS rights in an eight-year agreement which began in 2015, and reportedly pay approximately US$90 million per year.
The 2020 MLS season kicks off on 29th February, with DC United hosting Colorado Rapids at Audi Field in the US capital.
