The Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star Game is to be broadcast in Cuba for the first time this month, after the league struck a deal with the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT), reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
ICRT will provide TV and radio coverage of the match, which will see the best of MLS take on English Premier League side Arsenal at San Jose's Avaya Stadium next Thursday.
Under the deal, the broadcaster has also committed to airing the upcoming international friendly between the USA and Cuba in Havana on 7th October.
An MLS statement said the addition of ICRT means the match will be televised in a record 166 countries and territories this year.
Other broadcasters set to show the match include Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, pan-European broadcaster Eurosport, Globosat in Brazil, Abu Dhabi Media in the Middle East and North Africa, and Le Sports in mainland China.
"MLS is proud to take the AT&T MLS All-Star Game to new fans in Cuba," said Gary Stevenson, the president and managing director of MLS Business Ventures.
"Our global footprint for this game has increased to a record 166 countries and territories, allowing fans around the world to engage with one of our marquee events."
