Mladen Petric was happy to make his West Ham United debut in defeat to Everton.

Petric is set to be pressed into action.

The Croatian striker came on as a substitute and showed some promising signs in his first outing.

He said: "I hope I can help the team, not only scoring goals but in the games. This was my first match for three-and-a-half months, so of course I am not 100 per cent.

"All the other players had a pre-season, while I have to get up to speed in a short space of time.

"I have a bit more to do but I am sure I'll be match fit very soon."
