Former AC Milan chief Massimiliano Mirabelli has revealed the former owners wanted Rino Gattuso sacked.
Gattuso could've been sacked in December 2017 after defeat to Verona.
“The Chinese pressed to get rid of Rino, whom I tried to defend in every way," Mirabelli told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I tried to support him too."
Yonghong Li left Milan last summer after he defaulted on a loan to buy the club, while Gattuso has since led the side to third place in Serie A and the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
