Liverpool have received a major injury boost ahead of the Europa League tie with Manchester United in the form of James Milner's return to fitness.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who missed last week's first leg tie due to illness, has resumed first-team training this week and should be passed fit for Thursday's return bout.

Milner has been an integral contributor for the Reds since joining from Manchester City, making 34 appearances in all competitions in his debut campaign at Anfield.

The Merseysiders won the first leg 2-0 at Anfield last week, and they are favourites to progress to the last-eight of the competition ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford.
