Milner backing magical Liverpool mate Coutinho to only get better

Philippe Coutinho is destined to continue his brilliance for many years to come according to Liverpool teammate James Milner.

The Brazilian ace produced a moment of magic late in the first half to help seal a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford which sent the Reds through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate win over traditional rivals Manchester United.

Coutinho shimmied his way past Guillermo Varela before advancing towards David De Gea's near post and deftly clipping the ball over the Spaniard to level it up on the stroke of half-time.

The goal put Liverpool in pole position after they had conceded Anthony Martial's penalty just after the half-hour mark and it was a piece of play which was certainly well-received by veteran midfielder Milner, who operated at full-back in the absence of Alberto Moreno.

"He's a brilliant player and he's only going to get better," Milner told BT Sport.

"He's still young and he's got all the tricks, he's got a great temperament. He's going to be a top, top player.

"He's got a good attitude, like I say, so he needs to keep learning.

"You need that bit of magic sometimes and it was great timing, just before half-time as well."
