Kenny Miller has hit Derby County's winner on debut in their 1-0 victory over Newcastle United.

Miller's strike came from all of 35 yards as he thumped his effort beyond Newcastle goalkeeper Steve Harper on 38 minutes.

It was the perfect riposte from a Rams side who were all-but written off after their 6-0 demolition by Liverpool last time out, as they silenced a Newcastle side which included England's Euro 2008 qualifying star Michael Owen.
